What do you think they're looking at?

What do you think they're looking at? (2022)

In 2019 I decided not to dye my hair anymore. And I have discovered many things along this journey.

I lived this process of slow graying with serenity, but those closest to me (friends and family) experienced a sense of worry and uneasiness. Many women have told me: “I would be afraid that if I no longer dye my hair, others might think that I am old”.

Today there are no longer strict aesthetic limits and we can wear clothes without gender definition, we have cleared customs for female bodies of all sizes or not shaved, but one thing remains difficult to come to terms with white hair.

Everything can be forgiven by a woman, but not her old age. Because the bodies, which are increasingly objected to being transformed at will and the territory where personal and political goals can be marked, cannot accommodate old age and what it alludes to as death.

In this project I chose to tackle the theme of the body and old age, focusing only on the hair that was my object of investigation. Hair is also one of the elements most linked to identity.

So I tried to study of my hair and identity by observing them from various angles, like many passport photos.
